The Vice President His Honour Mokgweetsi Masisi, handed over a house to a resident of Malaka on the 14 July 2016.
Bayport financial services built the house for Mrs Thompha Dintletse to the tune of P120 000.00. Mrs Dintletse is the sole caregiver for 19 grandchildren.
His Honor Masisi expressed hope that the house would restore dignity to the Dintletse family.
He said that this noble gesture will develop and fortify the family’s dignity, give them a source of security as well as instill a sense of belonging in the community.
He said these were the intangible traits that most people took for granted, yet they nurtured botho which epitomized the nation and instilled pride in being Batswana.
Mr Masisi further commended the Presidential Housing Appeal, an initiative that was started by President Lt. Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama, with the aim of providing dignity to all citizens. He said President Khama recently handed over the 600th house to a beneficiary in Sojwe, thus marking the assistance of an estimated population of 5000 Batswana.
He thanked Batswana for their generosity in heeding the national call for assistance, making a united and proud nation. He urged Mrs Dintletse to take care of the house and encouraged her to raise her children under Christian values so that they would not engage in activities that would derail them from having a bright future. He also urged the Social and Community Development Officer to give support to the family.
Vice President Masisi further commended Bayport for building houses in support of the Presidential housing appeal. Bayport has so far built four houses that were handed over in Tlokweng, Palapye, Moshupa and Malaka. He said Bayport’s commitment to community development was unparalleled.
At the house handover event the Vice President challenged guests to make contributions to help the Dintletse family. A total of P3500.00 was raised from the initiative.
Speaking at the event, Member of parliament for Lerala/Maunatlala constintuency, Hon Prince Maele thanked the Vice President for gracing the event saying it showed his love and support for the people in his constituency. He also thanked Baypport Financial Services for heeding the President’s call by supporting the President’s Housing Appeal.
Bayport Executive Chairman Mr Father Maphongo said the President called on the nation to help the underprivelleged members of the community with shelter hence he heeded his call. He said bayport would soon finish another house in Gaborone which will be handed over.
Mr Maphongo said bayport took the initiative to build a house in Malaka after hearing about the plight of the Dintletse family from Mrs Pinny Morupisi.
